Trenchless sewer line repair

A trenchless sewer line can replace your existing sewer line. Unlike regular sewer line repair, trenchless sewer line repair can cut down on the disturbance of property, the disruption of the drain service, and it is cheaper than other excavation methods.

Repair Methods:

There are two major repair methods in trenchless sewer repair:

  • Pipe bursting: the old pipe is broken into, and a new pipe is laid in its place
    • Two access holes are made, one for the sewer line from the house, the other from where it join the main sewer line
    • The new pipe will have the same diameter as the old one, allowing the same amount of flow from the home to the main sewer
  • Pipe lining: a flexible pipe is coated and then blown/pulled through the old pipe
    • The new pipe is inflated once it is place, creating a pipe inside of a pipe
    • This lowers the diameter of the sewer pipe by about ¼ of an inch
    • For most people it does not have enough of an impact on a home’s drainage needs
    • Sometimes the method may not even work

Pros and Cons of a Trenchless Sewer Line:

  • Pros:
    • Cheaper long-term repair cost
    • Less invasive
  • Cons:
    • More expensive short-term cost

Overall, the trenchless sewer line’s repair is very effective in the long-term in terms of cutting costs. It is also more convenient in terms of property disturbance and disruption.
